Court Construction

Ground Work

The key to constructing a court, that will last many years, is in the ground work. The first stage involves the use of laser equipment to ensure that the correct levels are achieved.

After leveling, normally by cutting and filling, a geo-textile sheet barrier is laid to prevent any growth of vegetation through the court. On top of the barrier are laid 130 tons of graded, crushed limestone to further provide support and drainage for the playing surface.

Side Section of Playing Surface

Playing Surfaces

The normal tennis court playing surface is a tar macadam compound which is both hardwearing and easy to maintain. To increase durability, enhance playing characteristics and to give a non-slip surface, courts are sprayed with coloured acrylic based paint.

As an alternative to macadam playing surface, M.M. Surfacing Ltd can supply and fit a range of synthetic 'grass surfaces to suit a customers' specific needs and playing requirements.
